The S&W might have an advantage for Illinois deer hunters because it would be easy to convert to single shot as required by state law. After the hunt, easy to convert back. — Walter

A reader requested your feedback as to which gun rights group(s) you would suggest supporting. And I couldn’t agree more with your choices. I would like to suggest adding whichever state-level organizations that are actively working to protect our rights and combat state and local infringements. These can be as damaging as any federal law, but are easier to pass. I’m fortunate to be in the Tar Heel state, where Grass Roots NC does a fantastic job keeping the state legislature in check, and promoting policies beneficial to gun owners. And I’m sure there are other equally effective ones working hard as well, and deserve our backing. Supporting our local groups, in addition to the large national organizations, provides an additional, and much needed layer of protection. While I certainly look forward to the monthly reviews, both the Downrange and Firing Line columns are also must reads. Thanks for a great magazine. — Harvey
Harvey, those are good recommendations. Thanks for them, and thanks for your readership. — Todd Woodard

Please pass along my thanks to Robert Sadowski for his excellent article comparing the Rossi RP63 and S&W Model 19, Model 60 Pro Series, and the Model 360PD. Having owned and carried J Frames for work, I can appreciate your recoil observations. I take a fair amount of razzing from the younger officers I work with for carrying my Model 12-2 Airweight as a backup, but the 18-ounce K Frame handles really well, and the 140-grain hardcast lead 38 Special rounds from Double Tap get good penetration. — Greg
