Special SHOT Programs for Law Enforcement to be Held Jan. 18-19

LAS VEGAS–The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is offering several classes for law enforcement the day before the official beginning of the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show, January 18-19, 2010 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.

  • Discovering the Best Baton Deployment System for Law Enforcement
    Monday, January 18, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
    The safest, fastest, most effective baton equipment selection process ever developed for law enforcement. Speaker: International trainer, Bob Hindi, a 21-year veteran of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and developer of the Hindi Baton Cap & Hindi Duty Belt S.A.F.E.T.Y. System
  • Active Shooter Response: A New Approach
    Monday, January 18, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
    This session will cover program development, single officer/plainclothes/off dutyresponse, use of the Ballistic Shield, and new room entry techniques. Videotape of training exercises will be shown. Speaker: Craig Dickerson, POIII, is a 25-year veteran of the Montgomery County (Md.) Police Dept.
  • Essential Handgun Techniques
    8: 15 PM – 9:15 PM
    Protecting oneself with a handgun requires more than just buying a gun, puttingit in a holster or drawer, and thinking you are prepared. While many handgun training courses exist, there is a process that any student who truly wishes to prepare for armed conflict must progress through. Speaker: Dave Spaulding, a retired law enforcement officer who now works for a federal security contractor.
