(GunReports.com) — The firearms and ammunition industry has a significant economic impact on the nation’s and each state’s economy—about $28 billion overall, according to a new report.
The report, commissioned by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, shows significant increases in jobs, wages, and economic impact produced by the firearms, including almost 190,000 jobs and $27.8 billion in economic impact. Both figures are up from 2008, when the industry accounted for 166,000 jobs and $19 billion in economic impact.
Also, this growth coincided with a continued decline in accidental firearm-related deaths (more than a 60 percent decrease in the last 20 years) and a continued drop in crime rates nationally.
