Springfield Armory has launched California-compliant variants of the Hellcat, Hellcat Pro, and XD-M Elite 9mm pistols.
Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory, said, “From two of the most popular EDC-ready pistols on the market — the Hellcat and Hellcat Pro — to the highly refined and advanced XD-M Elite 9mm, California residents now have a host of impressive options for their collections.”
To be “Cali-legal,” the nation’s most populous state requires specific modifications, including a magazine disconnect, tactile and visible loaded-chamber indicator at the rear of the ejection port, and a 10-round magazine.
The Hellcat EDC pistol features an OSP (Optical Sight Pistol) cut slide ready to accept an optic, U-Dot tritium/luminescent sights, compact 3-inch barrel, and Adaptive Grip Texture on the frame.
The Hellcat Pro is slim and compact like the Hellcat but with a 3.7-barrel. Also, it extends the length of the frame for a full-handed grip on the pistol for enhanced control and performance. It, too, has OSP capability as well as U-Dot sights.
The XD-M Elite 4.5-inch 9mm has a Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly (META), fully ambidextrous controls, and enhanced slide serrations.
All three pistols come with two 10-round magazines and feature magazine-disconnect safeties as well as specifically designed loaded-chamber indicators, all to meet California’s strict requirements. The XD-M Elite 4.5-inch 9mm also does not feature the extended and flared magwell of the rest of the Elite line.
