H.R. 6842, which would compel the District of Columbia to comply with the Heller decision, has been reported out of committee for a floor vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.
H.R. 6842, aka The National Capital Security and Safety Act, would require the District of Columbia to revise its laws regarding the use and possession of firearms as necessary to comply with the requirements of the decision of the Supreme Court in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller.
In particular, H.R. 6842 amends the Firearms Control Regulations Act of 1975 (FCRA) to direct the District Mayor and Council to ensure that the district’s related regulations are consistent with the requirements of District of Columbia v. Heller.
