(GunReports.com) — Competitive clays shooters who were using Winchester AA ammunition had a good summer. Led by gold medalists Kim Rhode and Vincent Hancock, who won the Olympic skeet competitions in London, Winchester AA-equipped shooters took the top spot in or placed in several major competitions.
“Winchester is proud to support many of the world’s best clay shooters,” said Brett Flaugher, Winchester Ammunition vice president of marketing and sales. “The results speak for themselves – Winchester AA is the choice of champions.”
Rhode’s third career gold made her the first U.S. athlete to medal in an individual sport in five consecutive Olympic Games – a streak that began in Atlanta in 1996. Hancock won his second consecutive gold in men’s skeet, becoming the first person to win back-to-back golds in the event.
At the recent International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup Finals in Maribor, Slovenia, Joshua Richmond used Winchester AA ammo to win gold in Double Trap. Brandy Drozd added a silver medal in women’s skeet as did Hancock on the men’s side.
The wins for Winchester continued on American soil at the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s Grand American.
Don Hertes of Noble, Ill. won the Grand American Handicap championship and Michael Obert of Atwood, Ill. won Bill Martin’s $100,000 Challenge after qualifying with a perfect 100 out of 100 score. Both men were shooting Winchester AA ammunition, which was the number one selling shotshell during the event.
South Dakota shooting siblings Matt and Foster Bartholow used Winchester AA ammo to win or place in more than 12 events at the Grand American, including wins for Matt at the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Doubles event and the Browning Super 500 where he broke a 498 of 500 targets. With the help of the Bartholow brothers, South Dakota’s team won the National Team Race event.
