(GunReports.com) — Sturm, Ruger & Co. will extend special pricing to the athletes and teams of the Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP).

The discount programs are just one of the many benefits of belonging to SPP. Teams, coaches and athletes can now receive special pricing on pistols, ammunition, ear and eye protection, .22 LR conversions, timers and targets.

SPP also offers a chance for young adults to compete for state, regional and national championships. In addition to these discounts, SPP also supplies liability insurance and coaches training.

“Ruger has long been a leader in supporting youth programs, especially in the rimfire arena,” said Ken Jorgensen, Ruger Shooting Sports Coordinator. “SPP is a great program for getting young adults of America involved in the shooting sports where they will learn safe and responsible firearms handling and may develop a lifelong interest.”

Tammy Mowry, SPP Program Manager, said, “The Rimfire division is very popular in SPP, and these Ruger pistols will help the continued growth of the program.”

SPP is supported, in part, by founding partners GLOCK, Smith & Wesson, Action Target and Larry and Brenda Potterfield of Midway USA. Additional partners include Atlanta Arms & Ammunition, NextLevel Training, PACT Timers, Pro Ears, Remington Arms, Rudy Project, Tactical Solutions and Winchester Ammunition among others.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is responsible for all aspects of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP) across the United States, including participant registration, coaches, state coordinators, state and national championships, promotion, communications, websites, public relations and growth strategies The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation exists to raise funding and other resources for Youth Development Programs in the shooting sports industry.
