Wilson Combat Debuts Paul Howe Tactical Carbine

(GunTests.com) — Wilson Combat has announced its first firearm collaboration with tactical shooting expert Paul Howe, the Paul Howe Tactical Carbine.

Paul Howe is a high-risk training instructor who served 20 years in the U.S. Army, ten of those in Special Operations. He served as a Tactical Team Leader in multiple combat operations and Senior firearms Instructor while assigned to a tier-one unit of US Army Special Operations. During his service and since his retirement he has become one of the most sought after experts on close quarters combat and law enforcement/military small arms weapons and tactics in the world.

“Were I to have the choice of only one gun, this is the gun it would be. I could do short-, intermediate- and long-range work with this one rifle. It is like having one golf club to play the entire course,” said retired Sergeant Major Paul Howe, an operator and trainer.

Externally, the new Camouflage Armor-Tuff finish blends in well in many urban and rural environments. The hand-applied pattern reduces IR signature and also keeps the rifle cooler in high temperatures.

The barrel is Wilson’s match-grade 1-8 twist 5.56mm-chambered stainless steel 14.7-inch model, which has deep lightening flutes and a permanently attached Accu-Tac flash hider. This barrel meets the 16-inch minimum barrel length requirement for legal rifle ownership.

A two-stage Wilson Combat TTU with heavier springs for a 4.5-pound trigger release allows accurate use with gloves in an operational environment. Paul selected a Daniel Defense fixed front sight tower to be used along with his CSAT rear aperture flip-up rear sight. The sling mount is a 10/2 rail-mount version.

The Paul Howe Tactical carbine can be ordered only in 5.56 NATO caliber as a basic rifle or as a complete package kitted with Paul’s preferred optic, mount and sling.

Add-on options for the “Kit” version include a Wilson Combat AccuRiser scope mount with 30mm rings, a Leupold VX-6 1-6×24 Firedot, a Streamlight TLR1 HL weapon light, and a Vickers sling with push-button swivels.
