Charter Arms Launches ‘Pitbull,’ .40 Cal Rimless Revolver

(GunReports.com) – Charter Arms has released the Pitbull, what it claims is the world’s first .40-caliber rimless revolver.

Built on the same 416 stainless-steel matte-finish frame as the Charter Arms .44 Special, the 5-shot Pitbull has a a rimless-cartridge extractor assembly. The dual-coil spring assembly located in the extractor allows the insertion, retention, and extraction of .40-caliber cartridges.

Charter Arms President Nick Ecker said the new system makes firing rimless cartridges in a revolver as easy as rimmed cartridges.

Ecker said, “The Pitbull is the ideal revolver for law enforcement officers to use as their back up, because they can now carry a revolver that utilizes the same ammo as their sidearm. And for the .40 caliber enthusiast, it gives them the first revolver that shoots their ammo without utilizing moon clips.”

MSRP is on this patent-pending revolver is $465.
