MasterPiece Arms’s new MPAR 556 Sporting Rifle, $999, is chambered in 5.56×45 (.223 Rem.) and accepts AR-15/M16 magazines. It is differentiated from many other AR-style rifles by its heavy stamped-steel receiver.
The Sporting Rifle has a 16-inch barrel with a 1:9 twist and weighs 7.8 pounds unloaded. The MPAR 556 employs a short-stroke piston action enclosed by a lightweight free-floating two-piece hard-anodized aluminum handguard.
A front handguard cap keeps debris out of the gas system while providing strength and stability to the assembly. The operator can select where he wants to place Picatinny rails for accessories.
The American-made MPAR 556 Sporting Rifle also contains a side-folding 6-position polymer buttstock, locked bolt action, full-length top rail, angled foregrip and a non-reciprocating side charging handle with forward-assist.
MasterPiece Arms is located in Carrollton, Georgia with manufacturing based in Comer, Georgia. The company also produces the MAC Defender Series of firearms.
ATI IntroducesMagazine Extensions
Advanced Technology International (ATI) is now shipping aluminum fluted magazine extensions for select Remington, Winchester, and CZ 12-gauge shotguns.
ATI’s new magazine extensions will be offered with three different end caps: a standard flat cap, swivel stud cap, and stand-off cap.
“The fluted magazine extensions will be offered in both 7- and 8-shot models, which add 2 and 3 shells respectively,” said Jon Shaffer, Director of Business Development.
The extensions match the outside diameter of the shotgun’s barrel lug. The magazine extensions are constructed of Military Type III anodized 6061 T6 aluminum, and are covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
SureFire DSF-Series ShotgunForend WeaponLights NowAvailable
SureFire’s new Dedicated Shotgun Forend WeaponLights are the latest addition to SureFire’s class of integrated weapon-mounted lights. The DSF-870 MSRP is $375. The DSF-1300/F2 and DSF-M1/M2 retail for $395.
All DSF models feature an ultra-high-output of 600 lumens on its high setting and 200 lumens on its lower setting. Additional features include a precision reflector, ambidextrous switching, and sleek high-impact polymer that is textured for a secure grip in any tactical situation.
The new Dedicated Shotgun Forend models are designed to replace the factory forends on the Remington 870, Mossberg 500/590, Winchester Defender 1300, SPX and Fabrique Nationale d’Herstal (FNH) P-12, Benelli M1 Super 90 and M2 models. No permanent modification to host weapon is necessary for installation, and all models seamlessly integrate into place of the factory forend.
The DSF features large, tactile momentary and constant-on switches on both sides for precise control by left- and right-handed shooters. Selecting the LED’s output is achieved by activating the light in constant-on mode and then pressing the output-mode selector switch until the desired output level (600 or 200 lumens) is set. The selected output can then be left in constant-on mode or switched to momentary activation, and it stays at that output level until reset. Every DSF-Series WeaponLight also features an integrated system-disable switch to prevent accidental activation during transport, storage, or stealth operations.
All DSF models produce tactical-level light (over 50 lumens) for 3 hours on two 123A lithium batteries.
Kahr Delays Two Pistols
Kahr Arms has announced that shipping will be delayed on two pistols. From the company’s website:
Due to the unprecedented demand on our entire line of American-made “C”-series products, the highly anticipated launch of the CW3833 and the CM4543 has been delayed until late fall.
To our valued customers and dealers, we apologize for this delay. Our staff has worked feverishly during the summer months to catch up but demand has continued unabated for our current products and especially the CW and CM series. We have taken this action to formally announce this delay in shipping until late fall. Please revisit our website in the fall for updates on shipping status.
Differences between the Kahr CW380 and Kahr P380 models include: the CW series has a conventional rifled barrel instead of the match grade polygonal barrel found on P models; the CW slide stop lever is MIM (metal-injection-molded) instead of machined; the CW series slide has fewer machining operations, and uses simple roll marking instead of engraved markings; the P380 comes with two magazines, but the CW series comes with one 6-round steel magazine with flush baseplate. Last, the slide locks back after firing the last round.
Details for the CM45 are not listed on the Kahr website.

ATK to Purchase Bushnell
ATK (NYSE: ATK) announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Bushnell Group Holdings, Inc., the sports optics, outdoor accessories, and performance eyewear company. In June 2013, ATK acquired Savage Sports Corporation, adding centerfire and rimfire rifles, shotguns and shooting range systems used for hunting, competitive and recreational shooting to its product offering. The deal for Kansas-based Bushnell allows ATK to focus more of its business on the growing sporting-goods market rather than the lagging defense industry.
