Economy 9mm Pistol Shoot-Out

In the October 2024 issue, Gun Tests shooters tested two affordable 9mm handguns that fit nearly anyone’s budget.

Contributing Editor Bob Campbell’s South Carolina test team fired a Sarsilmaz SAR9 and a Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0.

Sarsilmaz SAR9 METE Safari
SAR9METESABL 9mm Luger, $395

Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0
13931 9mm Luger, $300

Here’s a quick look at each one:

The SAR9 is a handgun brand we have tested several times in different variations.

Its reliability cannot be faulted.

Accuracy is reasonable, if not the best we have tested in the class.

Handfit options are excellent.

The S&W SD9 update is a nice addition to this affordable family of striker handguns.

There are things the pistol lacks, including grip inserts and slide panel indents.

However, the SD9 is reliable, useful, and accurate enough for personal defense.
